Hello, this is Cirencester Health Group. This video explains the injected flu vaccine to help you decide whether to have it if it has been offered to you.
Flu can cause serious illness, especially in older people, pregnant women, and people with certain health conditions. Vaccination reduces your chance of getting flu. If you do catch it, it is likely to be milder. It cannot protect against every strain. Protection fades and the vaccine is updated, which is why it is offered each year.
The injected vaccine cannot give you flu. Common side effects include a sore arm, an aching body, or a slightly raised temperature. These usually improve within a few days. A severe allergic reaction is possible but very rare; the vaccination team is trained to treat it.
Before vaccination, tell the team about any previous serious vaccine reaction or known allergy to a vaccine ingredient. Let us know if you have a high temperature or feel very unwell.
If you opened this video from a message from us, please return to that message and complete the questionnaire. There you can tell us whether you’d like to go ahead, wait, decline, or ask a question before deciding. You can change your mind before vaccination. Before giving the vaccine, the team will complete the necessary checks and confirm you are still happy to go ahead.

Hello, this is Cirencester Health Group. This video explains the COVID-19 vaccine to help you decide whether to have it if it has been offered to you.
COVID can still cause serious illness, especially in older people and people with weakened immune systems. Vaccination reduces the risk of becoming seriously unwell, although it cannot prevent every infection. Protection fades, so further doses may be offered when you are eligible.
The vaccine cannot give you COVID. Common side effects include a sore arm, tiredness, headache, aching muscles, chills, or a raised temperature. These usually settle within a few days. Severe allergic reactions are very rare.
Very rarely, inflammation of the heart muscle or its surrounding lining, called myocarditis or pericarditis, has occurred after vaccination. Get medical help immediately for new chest pain, breathlessness, or a fast or pounding heartbeat. For chest pain, severe breathing difficulty, or a fast or pounding heartbeat within a few days of vaccination, call 999 or go to A&E. Do not drive yourself.
Before vaccination, tell the team about any previous allergic reaction, heart inflammation after a COVID vaccine, or advice to avoid another dose. Let us know if you have a high temperature or feel very unwell.

Hello, this is Cirencester Health Group. This video explains RSV vaccination for older adults and other adults offered it through the older adult program.
RSV stands for respiratory syncytial virus. It often causes a cough or cold, but in older or vulnerable adults, it can cause serious breathing problems or pneumonia. Vaccination reduces the risk of serious illness from RSV, although it cannot prevent every infection.
The vaccine cannot give you RSV. Common side effects include a sore arm, headache, and aching muscles. These are usually mild and short-lived. Severe allergic reactions are very rare.
Very rarely, a serious nerve condition called Guillain-Barré syndrome can occur after RSV vaccination in older adults. Get medical help straight away for new tingling, numbness, or weakness in your arms or legs. Contact your GP urgently or call NHS 111. For severe breathing difficulty, trouble swallowing, or speaking, call 999.
Before vaccination, tell the team about any previous serious vaccine reaction or known allergy to a vaccine ingredient. Tell us if you have had an RSV vaccine before, have a high temperature, or feel very unwell.

Hello, this is Cirencester Health Group. This video explains the pneumococcal vaccine to help you decide whether to have it if it has been offered to you.
Pneumococcal bacteria can cause serious infections, including pneumonia, sepsis, and meningitis. Vaccination helps protect against several types of these bacteria and reduces your risk of serious illness. It does not protect against every cause of pneumonia, sepsis, or meningitis.
The vaccine cannot give you pneumococcal infection. Common side effects include pain, redness, or swelling where the injection was given, tiredness, headache, and aching muscles or joints. These are usually mild and short-lived. A severe allergic reaction is possible but very rare; the vaccination team is trained to treat it.
Before vaccination, tell the team about any previous serious vaccine reaction or known allergy to a vaccine ingredient. Tell us if you have had a pneumococcal vaccine before, have a high temperature, or feel very unwell. The team will check which dose you need.
