This takes place weekly. You will be notified by the Child Health Department with the date and time of your baby or child’s inoculation. If you need to alter the appointment you should contact the surgery. Pre-school injections are often given during a normal nursing clinic.

Ill Children

Children tend to become ill quickly and to recover quickly. If your child is ill and you are concerned that they be seen urgently, the receptionist may encourage you to bring them to the Surgery straight away. Even though we run ‘appointments only’ surgeries, an ill child can always be seen urgently.

Teenager’s Health

Learning to consult a Doctor or Nurse is an important life skill, and for this reason we are happy for teenagers (including those under 16) to consult us on their own. We often encourage young people to involve parents in decisions about their medical care; however, confidentiality is respected for all our patients – whatever their age.

Cholesterol and Blood Pressure

If detected early enough it can be successfully treated by an operation, but if left undetected it can be fatal. Men aged 65 – 66 years are invited for blood pressure measurements and an ultrasound scan to look for early signs of an aortic aneurysm.

This usually affects older men and causes difficulty with bladder control.
